 General Questions (7)
- What is this website all about?
- See I'm Green is a website that allows environmentally aware people to show their green pride by putting a marker over their house. The site allows users to communicate with each other to share local information and green resources. The site allows businesses and non-profit organizations with green objectives to place a marker on the map as well.
- How did you come up with this website?
- My name is Ian Cull and I started See I’m Green to encourage others to care more for the environment.
Not long after graduating with an environmental engineering degree in ‘96, I spent considerable time volunteering on water projects in rural Africa. In those remote communities I learned that happiness is not a function of the stuff we accumulate. I enjoyed the simplicity of life without electricity and a carbon footprint that was approaching zero.
Within a few years of returning back to the United States, I found myself living the good life in Chicago, married with a young child… and the carbon footprint of Sasquatch. One day it hit me that I needed to start a carbon diet. I made a list of 60 activities to green my life and home. I’m making progress on my list but I still have a ways to go.
Then it hit me… “Maybe others would like to see my list.” I came up with a creative way to share the list and challenge as many people as possible to set these activities as their own goals as well. It took over a year to slowly build the site. It has been a labor of love, but I hope you enjoy it.

- The size of the marker over your house is based on the number of your green activities. During registration, individual members are presented with a list of 60 green activities.
